Shichimi Togarashi, also known as Japanese Seven-Spice Powder, is a common Japanese condiment. It’s often found on the table in sushi restaurants and is popular sprinkled in udon and ramen soups, on other noodle dishes, and in things like yakitori and rice bowls.
Ingredients vary slightly from version to version, but the flavour is always a little citrusy, a little toasty, and very hot. Ours goes a little easier on the chiles than the common commercial brands and has more of the interesting flavours like Szechuan peppercorns and nori (roasted seaweed).
